Farrokh Bulsara (AKA Freddie Mercury) was born on a small island in Zanzibar, Africa. His parents were Bomi Bulsara (dad) and Jer Bulsara (mom) he had a younger sister by the name of Kashmira. His background is Asian/Indian and his religion was Zoroastrianism. Mercury was the lead singer of a legendary British band called Queen. He wrote some of the biggest hits for the band such as: Somebody to Love, Don't Stop Me Now, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Are The Champions and of course Bohemian Rhapsody. He was an amazing performer, and had a vocal range of nearly four octaves\! Freddie Mercury was bisexual. He had a longtime best friend/girlfriend by the name of Mary Austin, which remained close to him even till the end. He also had a boyfriend by the name of Jim Hutton that he spent with the last six years of his life with. Somewhere around 1986 he was diagnosed with AIDS, but kept his illness private and only told a couple of close friends and family members of his disease. On November 23 in 1991, he made an announcement that he had AIDS, and on November 24th he died peacefully at his London home surrounded by his close friends and family. His cause of death was AIDS related bronchial pneumonia. He will always be missed - Rest In Peace Freddie

Freddie Mercury denied he had AIDS until it was too hard to deny it, as he looked terrible, so bad infact that he didnt look like himself at all. A day before his death he released a statement to the public admitting he had AIDS. The next day Freddie Mercury died at the age of 45.

Freddie Mercury is one of my favorite singers. His band Queen had many songs, some being We Are the Champions, You're My Best Friend, The Show Must Go On, Killer Queen, Somebody to Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want to Ride My Bicycle, I Want to Break Free, Radio Ga Ga, Another One Bites the Dust, Dont Stop Me Now, etc.

Freddie Mercury had faced criticism from the public due to his sexuality (he was bisexual), but kept up an admirable "I don't give a shit" attitude. In early 1987, tragedy hit the band when Freddie Mercury was diagnosed with AIDS. However, he refused to admit to the public he had the disease. Despite this, Queen released two more albums. The signs of illness were almost impossible to hide during the making of the music videos for the singles [I'm Going Slightly Mad] and [These Are The Days of Our Lives], which were very near the end of Mercury's life. During the last few days of his life he shut himself in his home and finally sent out a message on November 22, 1991, revealing he had the disease: "Following the enormous conjecture in the press over the last two weeks, I wish to confirm that I have been tested HIV positive and have AIDS. I felt it correct to keep this information private to date to protect the privacy of those around me. However, the time has come now for my friends and fans around the world to know the truth and I hope that everyone will join with my doctors and all those worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease. My privacy has always been very special to me and I am famous for my lack of interviews. Please understand this policy will continue." A little over twenty-four hours later, Freddie Mercury died peacefully of bronchial pneumonia, but today remains a legend, live in everyone's heart.
